Air Operations Center Weapon System (AOC WS) provides engineering services for the continued sustainment, technology refresh and modifications. Services consist of systems/program engineering, technical support and technical training for the integration, sustainment, modification, deployment/fielding and installation, operations and field support of theater level command and control, communication and radar surveillance capabilities and systems

This position is identified as Strategic Review – Retained to MST

The Configuration Management Specialist Develops and maintains software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products.
Performs configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable.
Designs, develops, automates, and maintains productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development.
Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support software product development and use.
Develops software configuration standards and policies for company-wide use.
Trains software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.
Maintains the Software Configuration Management System including collection or distribution of code documentation, problem report and change request processing, software build documents, and delivery of software products to operational environments.
Perform administrative and build manager functions within tools.

Perform transfers of data to and from other team member and customer databases.

Develop and maintain scripts in support of Software Configuration Management tools and processes.

This position has a leadership role within the Software configuration management team. Implements long term organizational objectives for software process improvement (e.g., SEI CMM), and software code reuse

The ability to work constructively with small teams of engineers in collaboration with the AOC WS management and functional disciplines (e.g., software, hardware, information assurance, tech docs, integration and verification) is critical to success.
The selected applicant will be a member of a high-performing multi-site team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must demonstrate effective communication skills as the position will require frequent internal interactions with project leads and other engineers in the group

Langley Air Force Base is located in the Tidewater region of the Commonwealth of Virginia near Norfolk and Hampton and is near the southern end of the Chesapeake Bay. This region offers great weather year round and is an excellent place to live and to raise a family. The region offers lots of easy access to other regions of Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, as well as North Carolina, and South Carolina. Where can you get from Langley AFB? Langley AFB, VA is less than an hour east of Richmond, VA and the Virginia state capital. Virginia Beach is also within an hour of Langley AFB to the east. Langley AFB is just over three hours southeast of Washington, DC. The Outer Banks, NC is just 2 ½ hours to the south and the Eastern Shore/Chincoteague Island is just 2 ½ hours to the east

This program is Blue Sky and pending contract award.

Basic Qualifications
Emphasis as a Continuous Delivery Engineer

Deep understanding of Configuration Management (CM) within an Agile/DevOps environment

Expert in CM tools, technologies and processes and ability to implement/execution

Desired skills
**Current Secret security clearance required to be considered.**
Ability to orchestrate/automate build, test and delivery procedures.

Understanding of and experience with the integration of requirements management, defect tracking and CM tools.

Experience managing a complex, multi-baseline software environment.

Experience with knowledge management

Domain experience with the Air Operations Center Weapon System (AOC WS) and operational experience and con-ops. Experience developing Basis of Estimates (BOE) for Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) efforts. Experience tracking engineering task completion using Earned Value (EV) principles, including accurate Estimates to Complete (ETC) for each task. Experience with AOC WS SE Artifacts

Ability to work in a team focused, dynamic environment

Experienced in DOD and Configuration Management program per MIL-HDBK-61(A), Configuration Management Guidance

Understanding of Software Configuration Management processes.

Scripting skills

Able to promote Configuration Management and Data Management disciplines within the engineering community

Ability to develop software documentation, instructions, and presentations

Ability to plan and forecast tasks to meet multiple deadlines

Supports senior staff as required and ensures customer requirements and project milestones are met.

Experience performing inspections/in-process reviews and quality service
