As Mechanical Engineer for the EADGE-T program, the candidate must perform the mechanical design and development of tactical shelters, and Communications On-The-Move (COTM) systems (Mobile/Deployable AOC (M/DAOC) used in austere military environments. The candidate must have experience with design tools like SolidWorks. The candidate must also have experience with installation. The candidate must be willing to travel to Middle East and within the USA.
Specifically, the position requires the following:
• Developing designs and supporting drawing/documentation of tactical shelters/Enclosures
• Understanding of the complete range of product drawings used for specification, fabrication, assembly, wiring, inspection, and installation of equipment
• Ability to apply pertinent military, and industrial design and drawing standards as necessary
• Research, plan, design, develop and document mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems to meet requirements
• Modeling of COTS components in 3D design software, developing an approach for mounting those components, and creation of the related data package
• Knowledge of component level environmental testing, Environmental test experience – Vibration, Shock Tests, Thermal, Humidity, Motion, Dust and Water Protection, etc.
• Support fabrication, testing and installation of COTS and ruggedized equipment into shelters and mobile assets
• Develop and maintain design Bills of Material

Successful candidate must be a self-starter, working under minimal guidance, and be creative in seeking solutions to various technical challenges on the program

Gaithersburg is located about 45 minutes to the northwest of Washington, D.C without traffic. Gaithersburg is located in Montgomery County and offers a great place to live and to raise a family. The region offers great weather and lots of access to other regions of Maryland, and Pennsylvania. To live in and work in this region can offer a robust quality of life improvement as compared to commuting into DC Metro every day. One great feature of Gaithersburg is that they have a Metro stop for the DC Metro system from way out there in the suburbs. Gaithersburg is connected to the Washington Metro via Shady Grove station which is located just outside the city limits and is the north-western terminus of that system's "Red Line". Montgomery County Public Schools are ranked in the top 10 nationally according to US News & World Reports. Where can you get from Gaithersburg? Gaithersburg less than an hour north of Washington, DC and the US capitol. Baltimore is also within an hour of Gaithersburg to the northeast. Gaithersburg is just over two hours southwest of Philadelphia, PA. New York City is just 4 hours to the northeast. Annapolis, MD and its beautiful waterfront is less than an hour to the east. Snow Skiing at beautiful Whitetail in Mercersburg, PA is only 68 miles, 1 ½ hours to the northwest. Mount Snow and the scenic Green Mountains of Vermont are only seven hours to the northeast

Basic Qualifications
The candidate must have the following experience/skills in Tactical Network systems:
• 5-10 years ME experiences
• 5+ years using SolidWorks modeling software
• Ability to generate component and assembly level drawings to document designs
• Understand and apply drawing dimensioning and tolerancing standards IAW AME Y14.5
• Proficiency with PC based MS Office products

Desired skills
It is desirable for the candidate to have the following:
• SolidWorks Experience
• Proposal and working knowledge of Tactical Network systems
• Wind load calculations for elevated mast and antenna systems
• Testing of hardware and systems to MIL-STD-810
• Hardware document control experience
• Electrical Engineering experience like power analysis, power and signal cabling, etc
