This opening is for a GN&C Navigation senior engineer/analyst for the NASA Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (Orion MPCV) Program on the Guidance, Navigation and Control team. Responsibilities include the capability to: (1) Design and test GN&C flight software (includes expertise in the subjects of absolute navigation, Kalman filtering, and Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) for the 6 Degree-of-Freedom (DoF) state estimation of space vehicles), (2) Perform GN&C simulation design and analysis, and (3) Model atmospheric/orbit avionics sensors (e.g. GPS radios, Star Trackers, Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), or barometric altimeters)

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Math, Physics, or Engineering
• Experience with controls system engineering including design/analysis (classical, modern, linear, nonlinear, digital) both in the frequency and time domain including 6-Degree-of-Freedom simulation.
• Experience with associated tools including MATLAB and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with programming in UNIX/LINUX environment (C/C++ language, shell scripting)
• Experience with realtime/non-realtime simulation modeling & development based on the TRICK simulation architecture.
• Experience associated with the design/modeling/analysis of spacecraft/missile/aircraft control systems operating in both space/atmospheric environments and in high/low speed flight regimes
• Experience with Navigation system sensors/effectors and their associated algorithms (GPS/INS, IMU, Kalman filtering, etc.). Experience modeling/analyzing Fault Detection, Isolation & Response (FDIR), navigation, and guidance algorithms
• Experience with Windows-based office automation tools (MS Office toolset)
• Good verbal/written communication skills

Desired skills
• M.S. Engineering or Engineering Physics degree
• Experience with manned spacecraft design & systems engineering.
• Experience supporting a NASA customer. Experience working on NASA manned spacecraft GN&C systems (e.g. STS, ISS, X-38) and/or previous experience working on the Orion CEV/MPCV Program and familiarity with its systems, tools, and processes would be a significant plus
• Experience with Hardware-in-the-loop testing
• Experience in the correlation of flight test data with simulation models for fidelity improvement
• Experience with software configuration management tools
• Experience with model-based design/analysis tools
