This opening is for a GNC Entry senior engineer/analyst for the NASA Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (Orion MPCV) Program on the Guidance, Navigation and Control team. Responsibilities include (1) the capability to develop, design, test, maintain the Orion 6-Degree-of-Freedom (DoF) parachute model and related models (wake effects, forward bay cover (FBC) thruster, chute mortar) for the Orion program in the ANTARES and FAST analysis simulations and the OrionSim analysis and validation simulation, (2) perform analyses to certify parachute and crew module (CM) flight control system performance meets requirements for upcoming Orion missions and (3) interface with the Landing Recovery Systems (LRS) and CEV Parachute Assembly System (CPAS) teams to assist with parachute design, parachute drop test activities and their analyses

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Math, Physics, or Engineering
• Experience with controls system engineering including design/analysis (classical, modern, linear, nonlinear, digital) both in the frequency and time domain including 6-Degree-of-Freedom simulation.
• Experience with associated tools including MATLAB and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with programming in UNIX/LINUX environment (C/C++ language, shell scripting). Experience with Python
• Experience with realtime/non-realtime simulation modeling & development based on the TRICK simulation architecture. Experience with NASA simulation tools FAST and ANTARES
• Experience associated with the design/modeling/analysis of spacecraft/missile/aircraft control systems operating in both space/atmospheric environments and in high/low speed flight regimes
• Experience modeling/analyzing entry & landing/recovery systems and specifically parachute systems
• Experience with spacecraft atmospheric models
• Experience with Windows-based office automation tools (MS Office toolset)
• Good verbal/written communication skills

Desired skills
• Experience with manned spacecraft design & systems engineering.
• Experience supporting a NASA customer. Experience working on NASA manned spacecraft GN&C systems (e.g. STS, ISS, X-38) and/or previous experience working on the Orion CEV/MPCV Program and familiarity with its systems, tools, and processes would be a significant plus
• Experience with Hardware-in-the-loop testing
• Experience in the correlation of flight test data with simulation models for fidelity improvement
• Experience with software configuration management tools
• Experience with model-based design/analysis tools
