The Systems Security Engineering (SSE) department (T886) within the Systems Engineering Technical Center (SETC) is seeking a highly motivated technical engineer and leader to advance the Air Force Space Community enterprise through the advanced application of space and cyber systems security engineering.  This is an exciting opportunity in the Colorado Springs, CO area.

Key Functions:


  • Develop and propose concepts and requirements that support enhancing space systems resiliency and protection


  • Conduct research, application development, experiments, and prototypes that support enhancing space systems resiliency and protections 


  • Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts that support and enhance space systems resiliency and protections


  • Adapt, develop, and or apply monitoring capabilities to enhance space asset, electromagnetic spectrum, and cyber protections to support enhanced space systems resiliency


  • Coordinate and support technical work between various government acquisition centers, science and technology laboratories, and experimentation/testing activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS and 3 years of related experience required for consideration. 


  • Knowledge of and experience in Space Systems Experimentation and Test


  • Knowledge of and experience in Satellite Operations


  • Knowledge of satellite state of health and monitoring systems and operations

Required Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of spacecraft bus architecture and operating systems

  • Expertise in this satellite operations, systems, and experimentation technical area


  • Visible, recognized sustained engagement in a broad range of technical areas relevant to the space work program
Preferred Qualifications:

  • STEM:  Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Aerospace, or Math degree is preferred


  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning


  • Human to Machine interface / user interface optimization of satellite operations flight software


  • Desire to learn and work with a broad range of cyber and space protection engineering subject matter experts and apply resilience concepts to space asset protection applications


  • Track record of good operations or engineering judgment under pressure


  • Track record of collaboration, leveraging existing knowledge, and knowledge sharing


  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and champion technical development in this area
