**Space System Electrical Engineer – Payload sub-systems - SME**



**El Segundo, CA**



The Payload sub-systems engineer desires to put his/her experience as an aerospace or electrical engineer performing hands-on design, development, integration and/or test of space payload sub-systems to perform technical assessments, failure analyses, and peer reviews as part of a high-caliber independent readiness review team employed to assess flight readiness and recommend corrective actions regarding military space vehicle systems. Assessments are designed to maximize confidence that payload systems undergoing production and integration onto launch vehicles are ready for conduct of space launch activities. Technical evaluation of electrical interfaces, command, control, communications, functional design, and completed acceptance testing may be conducted. You will develop risk assessments, evaluate results, assess the impact of issues on mission success, coordinate between the Government, industry, and Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) personnel, prepare reports and summary materials, and support and/or brief material to program office leadership during major milestone reviews or as requested.



**The ideal candidate will meet the following experience requirements:**



+ MS degree in engineering, computer sciences, math or physical sciences

+ 15+ years of engineering experience designing, developing, integrating, testing or evolving payload sub-systems for aerospace or space systems required.

+ Hands on design, build, test, and/or fault analysis experience with avionics/electrical systems required.

+ Experience only in Project management or advising of government program offices is not sufficient in and of itself

+ Knowledge and recent engineering support experience of avionics systems (flight computers, power distribution systems, electrical sub-systems) used on current and emerging spacecraft and launch vehicles a definite plus

+ Knowledge and experience with test and evaluation and mission assurance activities in support of qualification of space systems hardware.

+ Knowledge of DoD space mission integration processes (space vehicle to ground control system, space vehicle to launch vehicle systems, space vehicle to range systems) and experience with risk identification and risk

+ U.S. citizenship required. Active TS/SCI clearance or current TS/SSBI clearance required
