Description: Summary of Description:  

GTRI is seeking a highly motivated software developer with the ability to design, develop and support mission-critical Linux based systems on commercial and/or military airborne platforms.  The successful candidate will join a mid-sized team of software engineers executing ongoing sponsored programs in the field of mobile applications development. 

Basic Responsibilities 

  • Software application development on Linux platforms
  • Linux Operating System configuration and operation
  • Participate in collaborative, team-based software development

Core competencies for this position:  

  • Software application development
  • Experience with embedded Linux solutions and drivers
  • Unit-testing code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
  • Bug fixing and improving application performance
  • Works well individually or in a group setting
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure and time constraints
  • Ability to self-motivate and derive specific requirements from general tasking descriptions 
  • Ability to assimilate and apply new job-related information in a timely manner

Research Scientist / Research Engineer I

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science

Job Requirements:

  • >2 years relevant experience in Linux application development – can include relevant school or side projects
  • US Citizenship
  • DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain a clearance within six months after your employment with Georgia Tech Research Institute begins is required

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Technical knowledge of Linux server configuration and development
  • Knowledge and experience with agile development
  • Well-versed in object oriented design
  • Existing DoD Secret clearance
  • DoD contract work experience
