Job Details

At Dishcraft Robotics, our mission is to build things that matter.  We are a venture-backed Bay Area start-up that is revolutionizing commercial kitchens with robotics, computer vision, machine learning, and innovative mechanical design. Come join our talented team of technologists and business people as we create advanced machines in an industry that touches everyone.

At Dishcraft Robotics, first and foremost, we value people, intellectual engagement and transparent communication.  We are looking for a highly motivated, intellectually curious and passionate software engineer to bring our robots to life.  The software engineer will use ROS and motion packages such as MoveIt to control robotic manipulators, integrate sensors, and essentially create an autonomous robotic system.  Tasks will include brainstorming, selection of software packages, selection and tuning of algorithms, robotic simulation, code development, testing, and code release to production.

About the Role

  • Create the framework to control a large, multi-stage, robotic system
  • Integrate system actuators and sensors, including writing drivers, debugging hardware issues, validating system performance, and developing hardware diagnostic tests
  • Develop path planning and motion control of robot manipulators as well as control of other mechanical sub systems
  • Select, qualify, and integrate available software packages and algorithms
  • Work with robotic simulators and validate their results on physical hardware
  • Implement data management and general networking for the robot, including teleoperation and remote diagnostics
  • This position requires close collaboration with other software engineers, mechanical engineers, test engineers, product management, design consultants, and robots

Requirements

  • BS or MS in computer science or robotics
  • 4+ years of software development experience
  • 2+ years experience programming on robotic devices.  ROS experience is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience controlling robotic arms such as the Denso VS-068 or the Universal Robotics UR-5 using MoveIt or other software packages
  • Familiarity with the commercial software development process with good software hygiene regarding code documentation, unit testing, bug tracking, and branch management
  • Experience working with and debugging physical hardware, actuators, and sensors.
  • Highly motivated, team player with a strong track record of technical leadership and technical collaboration
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Desire to be part of a fast moving start-up and work in a fast paced, collaborative, environment with few rigid boundaries
