The MITRE Corporation's Transportation Transformation division is looking for someone eager to apply their software development and computer science skills in a dynamic research environment supporting the Integration Demonstration and Experimentation for Aviation (IDEA) Lab. The IDEA Lab is an extensible, scalable, real-time distributed simulation environment based on an open, layered architecture. It brings together a broad set of integrated capabilities for human-in-the-loop simulations, demonstrations, and visualizations. It is an environment capable of handling a range of exploratory concepts, while also being realistic enough to provide a high-quality user experience.

The position requires creative problem-solving skills, good communication skills, an eagerness to learn new skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.



Key Functions:
Work as part of a team of software engineers, experiment designers, aviation operational domain (Flight Deck, Air Traffic Control) experts, and human factors engineers to help demonstrate and test concepts for the FAA and other sponsors in an iterative rapid-prototyping environment.


Required Qualifications:
- Experience programming in Java/C/C++
- Experience developing in a Linux environment
- Exposure to Full Stack web development

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
- 1-3 years of software development experience
- Experience with modern web-based development (i.e. AngularJS, Node.JS)
- Experience or interest in aviation

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar field. Candidate should possess the ability to be responsible for deliverables or parts of deliverables to MITRE customers.
