Generate and maintain liquid cooling and dry air flows diagrams for Combat System equipment; also generate and maintain cooling system load analysis; review vendor Installation Control Drawings and Technical Data Package products

Support senior engineers in developing engineering analyses, cooling system studies, preparation of reports, and use of AutoCAD.

Conduct modeling and simulation of ship cooling systems using the SIMSMART and Icepak software programs.

Contribute to programs and initiatives established to provide maximum availability of cooling to Combat System elements. Perform studies on existing ship cooling system design, and recommend use and location of isolation and transfer devices to ensure seamless operation or fastest recovery in casualty situations

Analyze cooling system design, material specification, construction, and integration of radar equipment for major landbased facilities

Perform shipchecks to determine existing ship conditions; provide on-site engineering support during installation and test of new equipment and systems

Basic Qualifications
BSME Degree or related field
Knowledge in selection and application of related equipment, including heat exchangers, pumps, special valves, demineralizers, blowers, compressors, dehydrators, piping material, ductwork, and accessories
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software package
Strong initiative characteristics and interpersonal skills, including potential to effectively prepare and give presentations

Desired skills
1. Minimum one year experience in design, installation and test of mechanical support systems including cooling water (demineralized, chilled, seawater), HVAC and compressed air; experience in performing fluid flow and heat transfer calculations and analyses
2. Established interface with NAVSEA, NSWC, other Naval activities, and shipbuilders
3. Experience in the shipbuilding or power plant industry; experience in design and construction of major test facilities
4. Knowledge of USN surface ship combat system equipment and land site simulators
5. Basic knowledge of both military and commercial electrical interface protocols, Combat System integration criteria, equipment interaction methods, as well as, USN and commercial Shipbuilding Specifications
6. Experience with AutoCAD
