DRS Naval Power Systems (NPS) a multi-site operation responsible for $350 million of revenue with locations in Milwaukee, WI, Bridgeport/Danbury, CT, Fitchburg, MA, and High Ridge, MO with an employee base of approximately 900 employees. NPS is structured into four Lines of Business: Surface, Submarines, Nuclear instrumentation and Controls and Marlo Coil focusing on supporting the power and propulsion needs of the U.S. Navy.  We provide engineering, manufacturing and lifetime support of our highly engineered products. 

Job Location: Milwaukee, WI  

Position Summary:
The Senior Test Engineering Manager reports to the Technical Director of Systems Engineering and involves supervising both hardware and software test engineers.  Position includes assigning work to test engineers, monitoring progress on assigned projects and making corrections in direction as needed to maintain cost and schedule targets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise test engineers writing test procedures, designing test fixtures, and writing test reports
  • Supervise test engineers performing software test functions
  • Manage budget, cost and schedule for assigned projects
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Participate in preparation of proposals including developing bid estimates
  • Support, communicate and reinforce the mission and values of the organization
  • Must take full ownership for all assigned areas working overtime as needed to accomplish goals
  • Lead performance management and review process for all assigned reports
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSEE and minimum 10 years of management experience in engineering field leading a team of Test Engineers, Test Lab managers and technicians in a high power testing environment.
  •  Must be US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
  • Strong knowledge of power electronics, power systems and software integration is a must.

  • Past experience in building quality organization

 

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of 3-phase power systems, control systems, switchgear, motors, MG sets, programmable logic controllers, Mil standards including MIL-S-901, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1399 and SS-473
