Description: Georgia Tech Research Institute's Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research (CIPHER) Laboratory (https://gtri.gatech.edu/cipher) is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to serve in the role of Senior/Lead Test Engineer for a major long-term program within the Secure Information Systems Division. This Senior Test Engineer will become a part of a dynamic team of engineers and scientists working on highly secure Java-based web applications and will lead a team of Test Engineers and other Quality Assurance professionals through the testing portions of the software development lifecycle. 

Research Scientist I

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or another related field and who will be performing on a professional level.

Research Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or another related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or another related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Engineering or another related field.

Senior Test Engineer will:

  • Lead the Test Team in developing, debugging, and executing the formal testing processes for complex and multi-faceted web applications;
  • Participate in Agile Scrum team meetings with the Software Development Teams;
  • Develop and execute automated test cases using the Selenium WebDriver;
  • Review test cases for completeness and accuracy;
  • Perform different types of testing - functional, regression, and security;
  • Record software defects and communicate them to relevant software team members and follow through to ensure resolution;
  • Interact and function cooperatively with customer representatives and other outside independent test groups;
  • Design and Implement systems engineering business processes;
  • Document test plans, test coverage, and testing environments
  • Perform other tasks in support of project/system as needed (i.e. technical documentation review, data analysis, support software preliminary and critical design reviews, and report creation, etc.)

Applicants MUST be US citizens and should meet the following additional qualifications:

  • Be a US Citizen with no foreign ties of significance
  • Possess an active DoD security clearance of at least the SECRET level
  • Possess a Master’s Degree or have the desire to pursue an advanced degree
  • Have seven (7) or more years of Test Experience, preferably in a computing or IT related field.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Great attention to detail and a very strong work ethic
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications and tools
  • Some prior software development life cycle and software test knowledge/experience

Additional skills that would be beneficial to an applicant but are not required include:

  • Experience with Selenium WebDriver
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint
  • Experience in an Agile software development environment
  • Knowledge or familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) testing processes and deliverables
  • Knowledge or familiarity with testing in a Risk Management Framework (RMF) environment
