Title: Senior Test and Performance Analysis Engineer for BMDS - ASL-1468

Description: Task:

Perform substantive systems-level engineering analysis and assessment assignments of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) in key functional areas for flight and/or ground test campaigns. Functional areas for analysis include RF sensors, overhead persistent sensors, communication command & control (C3) systems, interoperability, strategic engagement, and theater engagement. Specific duties include:

  • Perform system-level analysis for a test specific Joint Analysis Team (JAT) by using analysis tools and techniques to aid the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in furthering the BMDS mission
  • Interact with the Warfighter, Joint Force Component Command-Integrated Missile Defense (JFCC-IMD) and the Operational Test Agency (OTA) with regards to understanding and assessment of Warfighter Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and Pre-Planned Responses (PPRs) as related to the BMDS.
  • Support capability delivery assessment through analysis and reporting activities of test events
  • Generate analysis tool requirements
  • Develop analysis processes, techniques and procedures to create or substantially improve analysis methods and products
  • Interface with MDA internal and external components, mitigating and effectively handling technical challenges or organizational disagreements
  • Write portions of technical documents to include the Analysis Execution Plan (AEP) and the Test Analysis Report (TAR) for specific test events
  • Create portions of executive briefs to include the Executive Quick Look Brief (EQLB), the Executive Mission Data Review (EMDR), and the Assessment of Operational Test Readiness (AOTR)
  • Present technical briefings to senior executives as required
  • Perform other duties as required

Senior Research Engineer

  • A Master’s degree and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree and four (4) years' relevant full-time experience.

Principal Research Engineer  

  • A Master's degree and eleven (11) years' relevant full-time experience; or
  • A Doctoral degree and seven (7) years' relevant full-time experience.


  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Security clearance required (TS/SCI desired)
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field is required

Desired Experience:

  • Experience working missile defense issues for/with a Warfighter component or regional command, JFCC-IMD or the OTA
