This position will support nuclear surety and system safety engineering efforts for various Air Force strategic weapons systems as part of SMD's (Strategic Missile and Defense Systems) Air Force Strategic Programs portfolio. The selected candidate will apply the systems engineering skill set with specific experience in the application of system safety/nuclear safety engineering techniques throughout the lifecycle of flight/ground equipment that was employed on modern military aircraft, satellite, and/or weapon system programs. Responsibilities include not only definition and derivation of applicable nuclear surety requirements to specific products, but also independent verification of proper allocation and close-out of each requirement prior to customer delivery. The successful candidate will also be required to lead the nuclear surety and system safety engineering skillset development effort within the Air Force Strategic Programs portfolio. Knowledge transfer activities are a significant focus area for this position

Additional in-depth, working knowledge of Air Force requirements and industry standards (AFMAN's, AFI-series, MIL-STD's, IEEE, etc.) will be applied to the design and evaluation of LM products that are utilized as part of Air Force nuclear weapon systems. This includes providing technical guidance and interpretation of applicability of nuclear surety requirements to program-unique designs based on benchmarks, best engineering judgment, as well as insights to Air Force nuclear surety community viewpoints / perspectives.

Presenting to senior customer management and safety oversight authorities the results of technical analyses and design solutions that demonstrate compliance aspects of LM products with applicable DoD Customer requirements will be necessary

Basic Qualifications
- Experience in systems engineering / specialty engineering roles on a modern military aircraft, satellite, or weapon system program
- Must have accomplished technical writing skills and proven ability to produce comprehensive engineering reports that will provide the basis for formal review by multiple Air Force stakeholders
- Direct experience in the application and conduct of system safety or nuclear surety engineering analysis techniques to flight and ground equipment hardware or software design, to ensure product safety and suitability for use in accordance with DoD customer requirements.
- Experience in performing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA's), Subsystem or System-level Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Bent Pin Analysis, and/or Software Safety Assessments
- Ability to obtain a DOD Top secret clearance which requires US Citizenship

Desired skills
- 15 years of experience in systems engineering / specialty engineering roles on a modern military aircraft, satellite, or weapon system program
- Previous experience in system safety / nuclear surety engineering on USAF Nuclear Weapons Programs
- Experience in developing compliance strategies and work products that respond to DoD requirements related to Program Protection and Supply Chain Risk Management
- Active Top Secret security clearance
