Digital Processor Design Engineer

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Senior Subject Matter Expert with solid experience developing high speed digital processing hardware for RF Payloads. The individual would be part of the RF Center of Excellence and lead a team that works across the enterprise to develop a strategy for RF Mission Processing. The individual will work with individuals across the multiple organizations and the Lines of Business (LOB) to gather customer and mission needs and translate those into an integrated digital processing road map. The individual would be responsible to stay abreast of current market trends, internal digital processing development efforts and capabilities, as well as understand the capabilities of other digital processing companies. The individual would support new business by scoping hardware processing needs derived from customer requirements and translate those requirements into development specifications. The individual would work with algorithm designers to understand the scope of the algorithm work and determine the processing support required for those algorithms. The individual would develop development plans, cost estimates and provide support during development efforts.

Primary Strategic Digital Processing Lead Responsibilities:
• Lead and centralize strategic digital processing development teams to leverage synergies in the RF COE and with other processing areas within SSC
• Define and develop a RF Digital Processing roadmap that takes advantage of current and future marketplace trends and capabilities to satisfy current and future mission needs
• Responsible for technical, schedule and cost project management
• Develop the digital processing approaches in support of RFI and RFPs including defining a baseline processor architecture, creating winning proposal write-ups, and establishing program cost baselines
• Understand digital processing development efforts within SSC and within the satellite industry
• Provide leadership to digital processing development activities

Basic Qualifications
* Candidate shall possess a degree in engineering, or the hard sciences (e.g. physics), with greater than 12 years’ experience
* Significant Experience in electrical design
* Significant Experience with digital processor requirements, development and application
* Demonstrated ability to resolve technical issues/challenges
* Capable of updating/revising technical documentation using MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Significant experience in engineering and development through the product life-cycle
* Must have the ability to obtain a SCI clearance

Desired skills
• SCI security clearance
• Proven experience as a strategic thinker and translating the strategy into results
• Proven subject matter expert in digital processing, with greater than 5 years’ experience
• Greater than 10 years' experience in RF Payloads products
• Experience managing the development of flight hardware
• Proven ability to juggle multiple, high-priority items
• Demonstrated ability to build cross-organizational and customer relationships
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, with the proven ability to communicate to all levels internally and externally
• Electrical Engineering degree with digital communications focus
