Title: Senior Software Engineer - ASL - 1477
JobID: 1477
Location: Huntsville, AL
Description: Perform development and maintenance of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) simulations for use with the Army’s Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Battle Command System. This includes distributed and local networked radar and missile simulations. Maintain documentation of these products. Serve as the interface with IAMD customer to gather defect reports and change requests. Create, prioritize and address software change requests in the SERENA Dimensions configuration management system. Maintain code base in GIT repository.  Support IAMD testing at multiple on-site and off-site locations. 

Specific duties include:

  • Perform development of software products in C++ on a Linux based system
  • Develop GUI portions of the code using GTK
  • Development of test cases and data analysis products 
  • Configure virtual machines to run instances of the launcher apps
  • Interface with IAMD internal and external stakeholders, mitigating and effectively handling technical challenges or organizational disagreements
  • Contribute to technical documents delivered to the customer
  • Present technical briefings to project office management as needed
  • Perform other duties as required


  • Security clearance required (Secret)

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Technology or similar is required for consideration. 

Desired Experience:

  • A Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Technology or similar is preferred.
  • 10 plus years’ experience in C++ development
  • Experience with network programming in a Linux environment
  • Experience with GIT version control environment
  • Experience working with Patriot/IAMD is a plus
