MITRE is seeking an Operations Research Analyst to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Portfolio in Huntsville, AL.

MITREs MDA Portfolio focuses on systems engineering, systems acquisition, systems verification and fielding, technology assessment, and the enabling sensor, communications, and information technologies.

As our OR Analyst you will apply sound systems engineering and perform systems analysis to resolve the most challenging problems of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).

Research and analysis will include performing trade studies and gap analyses.

Development of CONOPS, future architecture and roadmap development will also be required.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in:

Systems Engineering and Analysis
Operations Research
Missile Defense
Analysis and trade study development to include reporting
One or more of the following: missile systems, radars, infrared and visible sensors, communication systems, command and control (C2), fire control, and/or space systems


About the Department: OR involves applying the problem solving process to complex interdisciplinary type problems that occur within or at the intersection of organizations, operations, and technology. Members of our department are experts in using techniques such as mathematical modeling, optimization, statistics, probability modeling, and simulation to perform analysis that enables decision maker to make more effective decisions.

Candidates must have documented success in the following areas :

Clearly communicate complex ideas, both verbal and written
Conduct gap analyses, future architecture and roadmap development
Engage effectively with a wide range of audiences, including senior customer representatives and technical peers
Work independently and in a team environment with loosely defined objectives
Provide leadership and technical management of tasks to influence and direct teams working on focused technical efforts
Effectively communicate FFRDC and MITRE roles to bring differentiated value to the task
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance.


Preference given to candidates with active Secret clearance
MS or PhD in one of the following disciplines, Electrical, Computer or Systems Engineering, Operations Research, or similar field and 10 years of experience.
