Job Details

Lockheed Martin seeks an experienced Mechanical Product Design Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie to support a new Missile Development Program. The Mechanical Product Design Engineer will support New Design activity associated with the Air Vehicle, fabrication, integration, and testing. Tasks will include layout, packaging, conceptual and detail structural design of the Air Vehicles system and subsystem components. The product scope of this activity includes support to the design, procurement, and testing of missile hardware, systems, and subsystems



Travel will also be required to support and provide technical assistance to potential suppliers



Other notable tasks will include:

-Development of 3D drawing models and creation/release of 2D .engineering drawings using 3D CAD Software, Pro/Engineer (CREO-3)

-Interface development and generation of Instructional Engineering Release (IER) documents

-Performance of Trade Studies and Tolerance Analysis

-Requirements derivation / decomposition

-Specification development / creation to suppliers for procured components

-Collaborate / Coordinate with other Mechanical Engineering (Structures, Thermal and M&P) and technical disciplines (Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Logistics & Sustainment Engineering), Procurement (Materials and Subcontract Management), Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Operations, and potential suppliers / vendors

-Extensive collaboration / coordination will also be required with the Mechanical Engineering and Leadership team from Orlando

-Provide engineering liaison effort to support the fabrication, assembly and integration tasks associated with the product, including production process reviews, and attending supplier audits



Additional Details:

-Position requires frequent travel to Orlando

-At the onset of the program, possible temporary duty assignment in Orlando for approximately 8-months, then return to Grand Prairie to continue to support efforts

Basic Qualifications

Must be a US Citizen and possess an Active Department of Defense Secret clearance

Must have the ability to travel as it may be required to support the hardware Production Operations integration facility in Camden, Arkansas

Mechanical Engineer with strong conceptual and detail design skills (preferably using CREO-3)

Knowledge of mechanical drawing standards

Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Experience with detail, assembly, and installation type drawings

Knowledge of manufacturing and manufacturing processes

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong organizational skills

Capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment, capable of working in an inclusive, team environment

The candidate should have experience with Material Review Board (MRB) type experience, where disposition of discrepancy reports will be required by engineering



Desired skills

Computer Aided Design skills using PRO Engineer CREO-3 Software

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

Active Secret Clearance with an with an investigation within the last 5-years
