Reports to the Director of Systems Engineering & is responsible for managing the performance and objectives of the System Integration and Test (I&T) Section. Candidate should have extensive background in multi-discipline development of complex systems, with specific experience in product integration and testing. The successful candidate will have demonstrated competency in applying systems engineering methodologies to system design & be familiar with new trends in the domain. Maintains technical expertise & develops management talents of all personnel w/in the I&T Section. Collaborates extensively with other Sections w/in Systems Engineering & w/in Technical Operations & with projects & programs

Responsible for identification and development of methodology & tools to improve effectiveness & productivity of the organization. Provides technically competent personnel to projects as required, working through project managers and Systems Engineering Leads to ensure that departmental support to projects and proposals is effective and timely. Provides for review and approval of technical approach, staffing requirements, and cost estimates for new tasks

Maintains relevant contacts within industry, universities, and customer areas. Provides a wide array of senior leadership support to programs, including proposals, red teams, test readiness reviews, pre-ship reviews, flight readiness reviews, independent technical reviews, design assurance reviews, etc. Manages all aspects of attracting, retaining, motivating, and developing employees; negotiates at different levels and across all organizational boundaries for appropriate staffing assignments. Must be an effective mentor and coach for a wide array of talent and experience levels. Also includes accountability for employee performance management, salary adjustments, promotions, personnel development plans, training, disciplinary actions, and terminations.

In order to be effective across the mission areas at MFC, it is desired the candidate have knowledge and experience in fire control, military vehicles, and weapon systems, with ability to move the organization into adjacent and new product areas. Experience should include team leadership, staffing planning, task planning, and budget development. In addition, specific technical knowledge of several of the following areas would be a significant advantage: system testing, system verification and validation, test planning, test execution, integration and test technologies, flight test range operations, technical effort planning and management. Experience in the following domains is desirable: missile and launcher systems, weapon integration, autonomous systems

Familiarity with LM Missiles and Fire Control processes and products is highly desirable. Prior experience as a functional manager or program functional lead is highly desirable

Must provide strong leadership for Systems Engineering initiatives. The preferred candidate will be a strong change agent for improving the technical operations and capabilities of the Section

Position will be based in Dallas, Texas with periodic travel to Orlando, Florida and occasional travel to other locations

Must have ability to obtain a Secret Security clearance

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree in engineering or science from an accredited college and minimum 12 years experience in systems engineering and analysis of missile and fire control performance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have understanding of systems engineering practices and methods such as system architecture, system concept development, requirements engineering, operational analysis, decision analysis, systems definition, risk management, design reviews, peer reviews, and baseline control, with specific technical insight into system integration and testing

Must exhibit excellent written and verbal communications skills, the ability to organize, motivate, develop and lead large groups of technical personnel, a focus on Mission Success and Continuous Improvement, actively support change initiatives, and possess strong interpersonal and team building skills. Should be comfortable dealing with all levels of staff and management

Candidate must exhibit all Full Spectrum leadership attributes of shaping the future, building effective relationships, energizing the team, delivering results, and modeling personal excellence, integrity, and accountability

Desired skills
Masters degree in engineering or science from an accredited college and minimum 18 years experience in weapons systems engineering design, integration, and test, and analysis of missile and fire control performance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred candidate will personally enjoy helping subordinates, colleagues, and associates through coaching, mentoring, career counseling, and technical help. Ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous environment and adaptability to a dynamic environment are highly desired

Knowledge and experience in weapon systems and military vehicles, with ability to move the organization into adjacent and new product areas. Experience should include team leadership, staffing planning, task planning, and budget development. In addition, specific technical knowledge of several of the following areas would be a significant advantage: system architecture development, requirements development and analysis, operations analysis, system concept development, conduct of trade studies, interface definition and management, system verification and validation, technical effort planning and management. Experience in the following domains is desirable: missile and launcher systems, weapon integration, autonomous systems
