 The Machine Learning Researcher will perform and supervise basic and applied research on sponsored programs targeted at integrating machine learning and network defense and/or intelligence analysis, and participating in internal R&D (IRAD) associated with advanced AI and machine learning techniques to solve cybersecurity and/or intelligence analysis problems. The Machine Learning Researcher will be expected to identify potential sponsored research opportunities, support conferences, sponsor briefings, participate in delivering content associated with short courses and CIPHER’s education initiatives and other activities in support of our outreach activities.

Requirements

Education: MS in computer science, electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, or related technical field.  PhD a plus.

Senior Research Scientist

In addition to the years-in-rank requirement, this rank requires one (1) of the following:

  • A Master’s degree and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree and four (4) years' relevant full-time experience. For candidates holding the Doctoral degree, the last two (2) years of employment prior to employment at Georgia Tech will be considered if adequately documented, and the four-year time in grade requirement be reduced to two (2) years for candidates so qualified.

Principal Research Scientist   

In addition to the years-in-rank requirement, this rank requires either:

  • A Master's degree and eleven (11) years' relevant full-time experience; or
  • A Doctoral degree and seven (7) years' relevant full-time experience.

Experience: 5+ years professional experience in the machine learning domain.  Concurrent experience in cybersecurity and/or intelligence analysis domain is required. Business development experience a major plus.

Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of various AI and machine learning techniques, algorithms, and related development environments.  Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity and/or intelligence analysis issues and problems is also required. Candidate must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Software development experience is required.  Experience with machine learning development tools and techniques is a plus (Python, R, Matlab, Tensorflow, Caffe, etc). Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Other: Candidate must be a US citizen capable of holding a Top Secret DoD Security clearance, active clearance a major plus.
