NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) will be the most powerful rocket we’ve ever built. When completed, SLS will enable astronauts to begin their journey to explore destinations far into the solar system! For its first flight test, SLS will be configured for a 70-metric-ton (77-ton) lift capacity and carry an un-crewed Orion spacecraft beyond low-Earth orbit. In its most powerful configuration, SLS will provide an unprecedented lift capability of 130 metric tons (143 tons), which will enable missions even farther into our solar system, including such destinations as an asteroid and Mars!

This position will perform Industrial Engineering functions for the manufacturing & tooling operations associated with human-rated space flight hardware. This function also includes aspects of project and cost management, rough cut capacity and manufacturing resource planning, integrated master production scheduling, earned value management, manpower staffing, work measurement, and estimating (manufacturing, tooling, facilities, and support). Perform technical & managerial assessments on specific projects as well as nominal day to day operations. Ability to operate in a multi-disciplined team environment & have experience / knowledge instituting work methods & standards. Familiar with earned value concepts & EVMS. Performs logic & resource based scheduling functions in support of integrated vertical value stream mapping process with intent to direct & forecast work schedules & manpower requirements. Support & participate in statistical process control teams to establish & improve upon process capabilities. Perform manufacturing performance measurement & reporting. Provide project work scope assessments, schedule updates & assist in resolution of conflicts with master & lower level schedules. Assist in the preparation of process flow & operations analysis. Provide task and capacity analyses, critical skills assessments, alternate manufacturing concepts, impact estimates, and high-level schedules in support of program and proposal requirements. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint

Basic Qualifications
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma techniques.
Proficient in MS word, Excel and Powerpoint computer skills.
Understanding of Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Resource Planning methods and processes.
Knowledge of MS Project, Excel and SAP.
The candidate must have demonstrated written and verbal skills to effectively communicate with managers, directors, employees and customers to maintain a viable working relationship

Desired skills
Green Belt Certification/Certified Cost Account Manager.
Knowledge of manufacturing tools and systems.
Experience engaging and leading cross functional teams including technicians, manufacturing engineers, PMP, quality, production leads, supply chain process owners, and program engineering.
Experience leading and participating in LM21 process improvement events.
Experience with Space Shuttle External Tank and Large Structure manufacturing processes, requirements, and process flows
