Job Description:

The Opportunity

SEL is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead the hardware team in the metering group. In this position, you will have the opportunity to lead a multi-discipline team and be a critical player in your employees' development and professional growth. In addition, you will be able to stretch, grow, and practice your technical skill by completing individual project tasks assigned to you.

Senior Hardware Engineer Group Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Leads development projects in multiple disciplines, keeping cost, schedule, and performance objectives in mind.
  • Primarily leads product feature additions and maintenance support activities.
  • Actively participates in product design and development. May act as technical lead on projects.
  • Attracts, hires, supervises, and develops employees to meet product line goals.
  • Performs management activities such as performance reviews and disciplinary actions, with a moderate level of management assistance.
  • Provides leadership to create a productive, creative and harmonious work environment that reflects and advances SEL culture, values and objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering field or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • 12+ years of related engineering experience
  • Strong technical knowledge in one or more of the following engineering disciplines/technologies:
  • Digital system design
  • Analog system design
  • Power supply design
  • FPGA/CPLD design
  • DSP design
  • PCB layout
  • Product validation to compliance and safety standards
  • Demonstrated ability to design/produce/support successful products
  • Ability to manage product line problems requiring creativity, ingenuity, and guidance from manager
  • Strong desire to develop employees and lead projects
  • Experience mentoring or supervising technical staff
  • Ability to define general approaches and specific solutions to technical problems
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  • Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ANSI and IEC/EN metering standards
  • UL and IEC/EN product safety standards
  • IEC/EN power quality standards
  • Power distribution systems
  • Electrical controls and automation systems
