This job posting is for a full time position within GTRI’s Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) on GA Tech’s Atlanta campus. ELSYS delivers innovative products, research, and education that have positive and lasting impacts on our customers. This position is for a flight test engineer to provide support to government and US Air Force customers. Expected flight test opportunities will involve A-10, F-16C+, F-16CM, F-15C, and C-130 aircraft. Areas of test will include operational test (OT) with data links, avionics, radar, weapons systems, threat sensors, and targeting/imaging sensors. ELSYS works closely with the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Test Center (AATC) to provide modernization and sustainment solutions to operational warfighters. Test functions involve developing data analysis plans, writing test plans, conducting a full range of flight tests (bench, laboratory, HITL, open air, etc), performing data analysis, and writing test reports. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey test results to the US Government. This position also interacts with GTRI, US Government, and other contractor personnel. An ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
REQUIREMENTS THAT MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering/Operations Management with 7 years related experience
- Military flight test experience as either a Test Pilot or Flight Test Engineer
- US Citizenship and ability to immediately obtain a DoD security clearance
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with datalinks and electronic warfare
- Technical understanding of surface-to-air and air-to-air threat systems
- Systems engineering experience related to integration-level test design and execution
The ideal candidate will have experience as a team leader for airborne flight test missions. Examples of relevant flight tests missions are: ALQ-131 or 184 EA Pods, ALR-56M or 69 RWRs, integrated aircraft avionics, or LINK16 and SADL networks. Companies performing similar work are Raytheon, Northrup Grumman, and Lockheed.
