Lockheed Martin is seeking a Flight Vehicle Performance Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie, TX. Work will include 3-DOF and 6-DOF performance analysis of air defense missile systems. This position requires good math skills, computer literacy, good communication skills, problem solving skills, and desire to be part of a team on a mature, in-production missile program.

Basic Qualifications
Aerospace Engineering degree or equivalent.

Experience with a high-level programming language such as Fortran or C++. Experience with MATLAB. Familiarity with flight performance prediction methods. Understanding of standard coordinate systems used in flight vehicle performance analysis. Understanding of 3DOF and 6DOF flight simulations. Experience with guided missile trajectory analysis.

Candidates must be familiar with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experience with creating presentation-ready plots of performance data sets and communicating trade study results to other engineers and management. Excellent communications skills are required.

The ability to work in a fast-paced work environment is essential to success

Candidates must possess a Secret or higher security clearance to be considered for this position

Desired skills
Desired skills/interests include: • Ability to develop new and improved algorithms for fire control. • Data analysis of in-house lab data, flight test data and simulation data to verify correct operation of ground system/fire control functions and algorithms • Familiarity with MATLAB or similar Mathematical Computation platform • Familiarity with fundamentals of fire control system concepts • Familiarity with computer environments and languages, to include FORTRAN, Ada, UNIX and/or C++ • Desire to learn detailed ground system/fire control theory and operation • Ability to effectively communicate technical details on an individual and group basis • Willingness to commit to long term position and desire to progress to higher levels of responsibilities
