Job Title:Senior Electrical Engineer
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be expected to manage all electrical and instrumentation aspects of a capital project. This includes developing and or managing the development of the conceptual and final design engineering packages, specifying and selecting all equipment and material for design and installation of the electrical, controls, communication, and instrumentation systems. This will also include preparing bid packages and the selection contractors of execution of the project.
•Work with/for NuStar project managers, NuStar operations, NuStar maintenance, contract engineering firms, customers, contractors, vendors, and inspectors during the various project phases. Must communicate and interact effectively with other company/contract disciplines to execute projects successfully.
•Work with local utility representatives to design new and upgrade existing electrical services.•Define and ensure the project complies with required codes, safety standards, specifications, work scope and construction drawings.•Manage multiple projects simultaneously within a managed budget and execution schedule also perform cost tracking and status reporting for assigned projects.•Remain on location during critical commissioning activities for the duration of the startup activities or as needed.•Evaluate, properly apply and provide training for vendor’s products.
•Assist in the development and maintenance of Instrument and Electrical Engineering specifications and standards.
•Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.•PE is preferred.•Minimum 5 years of electrical/instrumentation/controls (EIC) engineering and project management experience in a terminal/pipeline/petrochemical/offshore engineering environment. With an emphasis on instrumentation and controls.•Knowledge of motor controls, starters, and variable frequency drives through 5kV.•Familiarity with and knowledge to apply NEC and API 500 guidelines with an emphasis on hazardous (classified) locations (Class 1).•Understanding of control systems, including PLC, network and HMI systems. Engineer will be required to approve and oversee design and installation of these control systems.•Oversee development of Piping and Instrument Diagrams, construction drawings, one-line diagrams, cable schedules, PLC panel layout drawings, loop diagrams, ISA data sheets, etcetera.•Selection of instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and metering. •Beneficial Experience (but not required): PLC programming ideally with Allen Bradley PLC's; Omni Flow computers; HMI's such as Wonderware, RSView and GE Intellution; V-Sat and networking design and implementation; networks; and Electrical power distribution (12.47-34.5kV).•Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills capable of taking initiative and making decisions.•Excellent PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft products including Word, Project, Outlook, and Excel.•Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail with the ability to proof work for accuracy, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently to meet appropriate deadlines are required.•Work independently with little supervision, and effectively in a team environment and independently.•Will be required to travel approximately 40%.
