The electrical engineer focuses on projects involving device development, evaluation, testing, and manufacturing. Responsibilities include:

 

  • Design and/or optimize electrical parts of the system
  • Test devices as needed post-manufacturing or for evaluation during root cause analyses
  • Test devices based on medical device standards for electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility
  • Develop test fixtures to evaluate electrical designs
  • Prepare regulatory and clinical documentation related to device use
  • Assemble devices as needed according to manufacturing instructions
  • Executing Good Manufacturing Practices required to receive, track, document, and assembly medical devices
  • Conduct data analyses of engineering data obtained from patients’ devices
  • Support of animal trials (present in the operating room during surgery to perform the engineering tasks necessary to implant the iVAS system)
  • Support of human clinical trials (present in the operating room during surgery to perform the engineering tasks necessary to implant the iVAS system)
  • Technically support the patient during the postoperative period
  • Independently manage projects and identify solutions
  • Manage and/or mentor junior engineers on various company tasks

Requirements

●     Bachelor’s degree in electrical or biomedical engineering
●     8+ years work experience in engineering and product development
●     Experience with mechanical circulatory support devices as a system with expertise in power management (batteries) and device electronics
●     Experience in high frequency electronics and measurement, electromagnetic compatibility, software development, embedded systems for medical devices
●     Ability to design and test circuit boards
●     PCB (printed circuit board) design for medical systems
