We are currently seeking an experienced and goal-oriented Embedded Electrical Design Engineer to play a vital role on our research and development team. In this position, you will design and develop embedded hardware and software as part of a multi-disciplinary medical device program. More specifically, this role is with our surgical robotics group, focusing on generating revolutionary technologies that we believe will change the way medicine is practiced.

As an Embedded Electrical Engineer, you will be directly responsible for the hardware and software design of one or more medical device subsystems. You will lead overall design direction and implement design specifics. Additional responsibilities for this role include:
+ Learn, understand, and continue to grow fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices. Utilize this knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to ensure alignment of product design with requirements.
+ Under minimal supervision design, develop, modify and evaluate electrical and/or electro-mechanical component assemblies or subsystems for electrical and/or electro-mechanical medical devices.
+ Hold active role in New Product Development team discussions. Provide engineering input on key topics to reduce time to market.
+ Evaluate product designs at a component level and ensure appropriate component selection based upon customer and standard requirements. Typical analysis includes understand engineering fundamentals around motor control.
+ Work with minimal supervision. Utilize senior engineers for discussion of unique electrical engineering problems.
+ Determine and implement design approaches and parameters and conduct feasibility studies on new designs.
+ Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and evaluate the results. Selectcomponents and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements.
+ Provide periodic reports on assigned topics to supervisor.
As a Senior Design Engineer, you must be a strategic and proactive leader within a multidisciplinary design team. You must have the ability to facilitate teamwork in a positive and collaborative manner. You should combine superb engineering analysis and problem-solving skills, with solid people skills. It is also vital that you display excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to clearly convey complex ideas and influence clients, team members, management, and external groups at all levels of expertise.
Specific qualifications for this role include:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering technology; Higher level Electrical Engineering degree, preferred
+ Intuitive understanding of and common sense regarding electrical engineering fundamentals.
+ Demonstrated electrical problem solving skills.
+ Familiar with C and/or C++ in an embedded system
+ Familiar with PADS and/or Orcad Layout tools
+ Excellent analytical skills.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Effective interpersonal communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, wrenches, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment.
+ 3-5 years of practical electrical engineering design experience, including board level digital design projects.
+ Class II/III medical device experience, preferred
