About Us



BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world's leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company's operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.



Position



Reporting to the Superintendent Engineering, within the Non Process Infrastructure team your duties will include:





+ Provide support and advice to the Power generation, transmission & distribution, Water and Camps teams in relation to electrical engineering requirements and solutions (HV grid), in particular:





+ network planning, operations and development,



+ governance framework development and review,



+ network, generation and protection system modelling and protection system design, review and integration













+ Create collaborative long term relationships with the key stakeholders across operations and projects



+ Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers to ensure valued customer relations and achieve a high safety performance



+ Identify opportunities for technical improvements on the existing operations and support the delivery of capital projects



+ Development, rationalisation and governance of electrical engineering standards in relation to non-process infrastructure.



+ Control and maintain the electrical blueprint (standards, specifications, procedures and drawings)



+ Ensure safe cost effective designs, modification & solutions are being produced by NPI Projects



+ Identify and evaluate the use of new technology where appropriate that reduce risk exposure or cost



+ Ensure compliance with all statutory legislation and internal regulations and policy





Skills and Experience



As the successful candidate you will possess the following:





+ Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering combined with significant Engineering Management experience gained from working across planning, design and operations in the Power Infrastructure / Utility sector



+ Specialist skills set in High Voltage networks (power generation and T&D ) and power system modelling and planning



+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to enable valuable technical support to a large range of stakeholders



+ Team focused with the desire to mentor and guide others



+ Flexibility to travel to site regularly to meet business needs



+ A proven track record of safety management and "putting safety first approach" in engineering



+ Minimum of C class manual drivers licence





Location



You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, however, regular travel to site will be required. This is not a fly-in fly-out opportunity.



Your office will be located in the multi award winning office tower - 'City Square'.
