MITRE is seeking an individual with hands-on technical cyber security engineering skills. This position will be part of a team that tackles various cyber security engineering challenges faced by the Tactical Army. In this role, the candidate will provide hands-on cyber security engineering, analysis, and systems integration crossing multiple areas including PKI, cyber situational awareness (SA), firewalls, networking, and IDS/IPS. The candidate must be able to collaborate; work in multi-disciplinary teams; conduct project planning and execution; build trusted relationship; analyze existing processes, roles, and organizational structures; and recommend improvements in processes, organizations, and technologies.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar field, and 3 years of experience.

  •  Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the following areas: 

    •  Offensive cyber tools and techniques and defense mechanisms.

    •  Virtualization, hypervisors, and virtual switching.

    •  http/https, symmetric and asymetric keying, mathematic principles of cryptology.

    • Routing protocols, packet schemes, and active directory.

    • IDS/IPS systems and technology and analysis techniques. 

    • Firewalls, their rule sets, and trouble-shooting procedures.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on operational experience dealing with cyber analysis and network operations.

  • Certifications such as the CISSP, Certified Information Systems Security Professional.

  • Candidate with an active DoD secret clearance is preferred.
