We have an opening at our Foothill Ranch, CA (Orange County) facility for a Senior Control Engineer, LabVIEW who is responsible for designing, engineering and implementing National Instruments (NI) systems associated with distributed control, real time control, timing and data acquisition systems. This is a regular, full-time employee position that is not suitable for an offsite or consulting agreement arrangement!

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for LabVIEW programming and HMI interfaces

Production, installation and commissioning of NI based systems

Integrated commissioning of the NI based systems

Documentation, operation and enhancement of NI based systems

Liaison with other engineers and scientists to form requirements for NI based systems

Detailed design and specification of hardware, distributed IO and infrastructure components

Detailed design of software structure and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)

Requirements

Required:  B.S. Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

Preferred:  LabVIEW Certification (Certified LabVIEW Developer)

 

Technical Experience (Equipment, tools, etc.):

National Instruments hardware, PXI, PXIe

National Instruments distributed IO (eRIO etc.)

Commissioning of network infrastructures

 

Software Knowledge and Skills Required:

LabVIEW programming

Object Oriented and/or Actor-Framework programming

Experiences of interfacing with large database systems

Networking using Ethernet, EtherNet/IP, Data Distribution Service (DDS) and other industrial protocols

 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Integrated control of high voltage or high current systems

Integrated control or acquisition of diagnostic systems

Interest in large science or R&D projects

Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team

Effective/excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to cooperate and communicate well with engineering, physics/science and project management groups

Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

Self-motivated, creative and accustomed to out-of-the-box thinking

Available to work flexible and extended hours as needed

Available for some limited travel – US and international

 

Required Experience

At least 2 years experience with large distributed control systems gained in an industrial or scientific environment

Experienced in the operation and enhancement of industrial or scientific control systems

Interfacing with or design of scientific instruments or systems
