We intend to fill this position with a person who has the leadership skills necessary to lead our Building Electrical design group. As a Senior Electrical Engineer on projects you will be required to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism and client focus/customer service; be resourceful and flexible, effective at handling multiple tasks; have good computer skills; have strong presentation, written and verbal skills; and be able to effectively delegate or be delegated to while working in a collaborative format with multiple team members.


 You will be required to:


• Listen to our clients’ needs and independently provide value to our clients by evaluating options based upon the client’s needs and desires, first cost, life cycle cost and energy usage.


• Communicate your design recommendations to our clients, project team, construction contractors and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email and phone as necessary.


• Work alone on projects, or work on or lead project teams with other technical staff, assuring that the work is accurate and coordinated and that the quality assurance measures have been followed.


• Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements.


• Maintain appropriate contact with our existing clients so that they think of our firm when services our needed.


Specifically you will be required to:


• Lead or Assist with the pursuit of projects.


• Provide the technical assessment of potential project opportunities to aide in project go/no-go decisions.


• Demonstrate knowledge and experience in quantitative analysis, sustainable practices, green technology, and related industry trends.


• Develop and refine engineering methodologies, tools, and standards.


• Stay abreast of relevant industry developments and technology advancements.


• Understand complex building electrical systems including primary and secondary power distribution systems, lighting and lighting controls, communication and alarm systems, grounding and lightning protection systems; and have the ability to design those systems and to evaluate and troubleshoot them.


• Forensically evaluate existing energy-consuming systems and detect and evaluate deficiencies, quantify energy losses, provide new system alternatives, and provide life-cycle cost analysis.


• Lead and contribute on energy efficiency retrofit, demand response, retrocommissioning, monitoring-based commissioning, and commissioning projects.


• Work with clients and contractors to identify and develop projects from initial identification, proposal development, and evaluation through installation and measurement and verification.


• Manage the development and design of energy conservation projects to ensure acceptability of budgets and timelines and conformance to federal and state laws and adherence to approved specifications.


• Ensure development of consistent and high-quality project deliverables


• Coordinate with clients and contractors during implementation of energy efficiency projects ensuring projected energy savings will be achieved upon installation

Requirements and Preferences


Applicants should have a minimum of a BS in Electrical Engineering, and a minimum of 8 years of design experience. Applicants should have a working knowledge of Energy Modeling Software (DOE-2, eQUEST, Energy Pro, Trane Trace or other), and have a working knowledge of BIM strategies using Revit. A Professional Engineering license is required.


The following are preferred but not required at the time of hire:


• LEED Accredited Professional


• Certified Energy Manager


• Qualified Commissioning Agent


• Experience working on Design–Build teams as a Lead Electrical Engineer or Project Manager


• Experience providing construction level coordinated MEP design models and documents.


• Project management experience


The Physical and Ergonomic Requirements of this position are as follows:


• Lifting/carrying:  Carrying light loads related to field measurement equipment, equipment cases weighing 15 lbs. or less.


• Dexterity:  Ability to type using a keyboard with relative efficiency, ability to make handwritten notes and sketches indoors and outdoors at industrial plant and construction sites at any time of the year.


• Walking/Climbing:  Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.


• Visual Acuity:  Ability to discern single line and 3 dimensional computer images representing objects being designed or drafted.


• Hearing:  Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.


• Physical exertion:  Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and

construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.  Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.


• Breathing:  Ability to work while wearing a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus.
