The Payload Launch Sites Support Services (PLSSS) Program provides all launch processing support functions for Office of Space Launch (OSL). The program's two primary operating locations are Vandenberg AFB, CA and Cape Canaveral AFS, FL. Key elements of the PLSSS program scope include satellite launch processing, satellite transport operations, satellite propellant loading operations, and satellite processing facilities O&M, clean room operations, and safety and environmental services

The RF Engineer will perform a variety of RF engineering design tasks in support of the Payload Launch Site Support Services (PLSSS) contract at Vandenberg AFB. Responsibilities will include designing and supporting the anechoic chamber and other RF systems as well as supporting operations as a test conductor at factory locations and respective launch sites. The new anechoic chamber is used to perform system testing for various certifications, equipment checkouts and calibrations, along with troubleshooting and design efforts. Currently some of our heritage equipment is being upgraded and needs to be re-designed with new technology.

Operations will consist of travel, extended shifts and odd work weeks, working in factories, clean rooms and launch complexes. This is an exciting fast paced, dynamic environment which requires a sharp mind and the ability to be flexible and respond quickly

The applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

Basic Qualifications
•Minimum of 10 years of professional relevant work experience

• Must be a United States Citizen

• Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI government security clearance

• Experience in presenting technical designs and information either in a school or in a professional setting

• Good written and oral communication skills

• Able to work both independently and on interdisciplinary project teams

• Must be willing/able to travel up to one month per year (potentially 3 weeks at a time)

• Must be willing/able to work overtime and occasional odd shifts

• Able to support multiple projects

• Comfortable working in a secure environment

• Must be willing/able to climb stairs and evacuate the launch complex wearing a breathing apparatus if required

Desired skills
• Basic knowledge of C/C++ and C#

• Basic knowledge of Linux (Fedora and Debian) and Windows(7+)

• Experience working with Linux in an embedded environment

• Basic understanding of electrical components and electrical engineering design principles

• Familiarity with micro-computer platforms, specifically Beagle Bone Black and PC104 stacks

• EEE EMC/EMI Certification

• Experience in open/closed loop RF testing

• Experience with Antenna boresight testing

• Experience in System Level RF troubleshooting

• Familiar with S-Band, L-Band, and C-B and RF networks

• Good organizational skills

• Able to adjust and respond to dynamic working environment

• Experience in authoring technical documents either in either in a school or in a professional setting

• Experience in a design build environment either in a school or in a professional setting
