Job Details

Basic Function

Develop mathematical methods, algorithms, and software for next-generation reservoir simulators.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and develop scientific software

  • Work with parent company (Saudi Aramco) technical experts to establish technical requirements for software

  • Design parts of software architecture

  • Develop and implement numerical methods and solvers in new and existing simulator frameworks

  • Attend scientific conferences and read technical publications to identify cutting-edge technologies for application to simulator development

  • Make and deliver technical presentations within Aramco Services Company (ASC) and Saudi Aramco, as well as at outside technical conferences

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

 

Education and Experience

 

  • A Bachelor’s is required; a Master’s degree or PhD is strongly preferred

  • Course work and/or research must focus on scientific computing; degrees in computer science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, and aeronautics and astronautics are preferred

  • Must have five (5) years of related experience

  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ and/or Fortran

  • Experience with high performance computing and parallel programming (e.g. MPI)

  • Knowledge of numerical methods for partial differential equations

  • Familiarity with software development toolchain (e.g. unit testing, continuous integration, version control, debugging, and profiling)

  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g. Python)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English

  • Must possess good work habits and adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette
