Joint position between the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition
and the University of West Florida


Job Summary:
The Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) and the University of West Florida (UWF) Center for Cybersecurity in Pensacola, FL, invite applications for a joint appointment for the position of Research Scientist in Cybersecurity (124720). The successful candidate will provide leadership for nationally recognized research activities and externally funded grants in cybersecurity, and will conduct innovative research that aligns with IHMC and UWF research thrusts and engages IHMC and UWF researchers as well as industry and government partners.

The appointment will start January 2018 or sooner and will be split between IHMC and UWF. The Research Scientist will lead collaborative research projects with IHMC and UWF colleagues and develop a research program in cybersecurity. The successful candidate will have demonstrated national prominence in research related to cybersecurity as evidenced by externally funded grants, high quality peer-reviewed publications and successful collaborations. Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement, in teaching, academic research, and service.

Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related discipline from an accredited institution and a strong record of cybersecurity-related research leadership, as evidenced by lead roles on significant externally funded grants, peer-reviewed publications, and successful institutional and industry partnerships. Successful applicants will have potential to collaborate with IHMC and UWF researchers on cybersecurity projects and grants. Applicants should have extensive expertise in cybersecurity as demonstrated through a record of externally funded research and high quality publications. Applicants with grant expertise in research areas applicable to cybersecurity, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, networking and human factors, are encouraged to apply.

Salary Range: Competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
