Description: Position: Research Associate I

GTRI will prepare a variety of 2d and 3d visual products supporting the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab,
Wargaming Division, with a variety of different visualization techniques – both static and animated. The work
will support the wargaming domain, and as such will be expected to provide products that visualize the
outcomes and execution of military operations, based on data and results from wargames. The products to
be produced may be, but are not limited to, 2d presentations of terrain and battlefield situations; 3d
representation of scenario terrain and geography (using a variety of terrain files, and employing both
geotypical and geospecific models of buildings, persons, etc); animated products, captured from using game
technology to execute parts of military scenarios. GTRI will include 2d and 3d rendering and animation
generation; knowledge of and familiarity with a variety of different types of terrain files; the ability to capture
and present video or animated scenes generated either by a rendering tool, or from a game

Research Scientist I

  • Related BS/BA degree and 0-5 years experience

GTRI may require experience with tools such as Maya or Blender, as well experience with video
capture and video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere or After Effects. GTRI should have experience with a
variety of game technologies such as Virtual Battlespace 3, Virtual Worlds technologies, or video game
development technologies to better support the task. Experience with a variety of different terrain modeling
systems would be extremely beneficial. Education and or training in the area of video and digital editing and
production would be essential, as would be strong communications skills (both spoken/written, as well as
visual). GTRI supporting efforts will be required provide onsite to the government sponsor, in Quantico,
Virginia. This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
