At TU Dresden, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute of Circuits and Systems, the Chair of Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering offers, within the framework of the project "NeuroESP - Assistance system to warn against epileptic seizures" funded by the Free State of Saxony, starting from 01.02.2018 1.5 positions as

Research Associate

(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

with 50 % resp. 100% of the fulltime weekly hours, limited until 30.12.2020. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD / habilitation thesis).

The aim of the planned research project is the development of a mobile system that enables telemedical monitoring of epileptic patients and a reliable prediction of epileptic seizures. New, powerful methods need to be developed, implemented on an appropriate signal processing platform, and finally validated in clinical settings.

Tasks: preprocessing, signal analysis and feature extraction of EEG data, development and assessment of classifiers based on deep neural networks, surrogate analysis, creating scientific publications, participation in international conferences and regular project meetings as well as participation in project management.

Requirements: very good to good university degree (if applicable doctoral degree) in the fields of electrical engineering, physics or related; ability and willingness for independent, conceptual work in a team; interest in practice-oriented, interdisciplinary cooperation with cooperation partners from the clinic and industry; knowledge of signal processing and machine learning; good German and English skills. Advantageous are knowledge in the analysis of nonlinear systems.
