Seeking a Lead System Engineer to be the SEIT of a fire control IRAD. The IRAD objective is to redesign a current multi-sensor electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) turreted system into a reduced height sensor system. The current system consists of a large-aperture mid-wave infrared (MWIR) sensor, color TV, laser designator/rangefinder and an on-gimbal inertial measurement unit integrated into a highly-stabilized turret. Candidate needs to provide extensive technical leadership experience and serve as the team leader for the System Engineering Integration team and cross functional team.
This position is a primary focus to ensure customer needs and requirements are clearly understood, decomposed and communicated to the cross functional technical team. In addition, the selected candidate will ensure processes are structured and resources are deployed to meet technical assistance requirements while achieving program financial objectives. Includes management of engineering processes and system design, verification, integration, test and system engineering. The selected candidate will assist in the configuration design and all associated engineering disciplines affecting baseline configuration development to effectively lead design maturation. Includes management of engineering processes and system design, verification, integration and system engineering of technical solution. Must be willing and able to travel internationally as necessary to support program objectives. Tasks shall include: • Support the PI and provide Systems Engineering Leadership and oversight• Identify customer needs and requirements and decompose to lower lever specifications and DRS’s. • Identify Interfaces and generated ICD’s• Identify platform level impacts for technical design solution• Configuration Development • Systems Integration and test and Requirement Validation• Ensure System Engineering principles and best practices are implemented and adhered to
Requirements: •Coordinate the design and integration of the system consistent with system requirements and customer considerations. •Demonstrated knowledge and understanding analyzing a customer’s mission and subsequently performing a mission analysis. •Must be well versed in the Systems Engineering process and principles and have thorough understanding of systems engineering practices, work products. • Experienced in preparing/planning/coordinating and leading major SE technical reviews (SRR, PDR and CDR). • Ability to work with different engineering disciplines and the customers to derive, decompose requirements and specifications. • Experience applying technical knowledge to provide expert assessment of technical system solutions • Candidate needs to have a strong technical background with proven technical problem solving skills.• Work in a collaborative manner to arrive at technical and non-technical solutions that support the overall objectives of the organization and customer requirements • Exhibit strong written and verbal communications skills, the ability to organize, motivate, and lead a group of technical personnel, focus on Mission Success and continuous improvement and possess strong interpersonal and team building skills.• Must be a self-starter, be team oriented, and capable of contributing in a fast paced, integrated product team environment. • Requires good professional presence and attitude when interfacing with customer. • Experience mentoring and training other engineers • Experience dealing with senior leadership • Experience leading diverse and cross functional engineering teams •Proficient with Microsoft Office products and generating Power Point presentations

Basic Qualifications
A Systems Engineer performing the Requirements Definition function will assess, and assist in the definition of achievable design characteristics for an objective system. These characteristics are synthesized into an implemental system architecture and system level design requirements are synthesized. System level requirements are documented in DOORS and flowed down to lower level testable structures, and testable modular hardware and software. Interface requirements are captured in an ICD. Trade studies are performed to optimize system performance capabilities while considering manufacturability, testability, and affordability impacts to overall solution and program strategy. Risk and Opportunity Management analyses are performed to mitigate technical issues and optimize program cost and schedule. System Technical Performance Measures (TPM) are defined and tracked as the program matures. Advanced capabilities include generation and execution of a Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and capabilities for defining system tolerances, timelines, and human interfaces
Systems verification activities are also performed to demonstrate to the Customer, internal and external, that the system meets requirements as demonstrated through the verification program. Analyses include selection and detailed description of testability methods necessary to fully meet the requirements rationale associated with each "shall" requirement. Verification frameworks supported through program DOORS database would be analyzed for completeness to assess progress in the verification phase as well as emphasize areas of concentration for either failed, substandard results, or more detailed implementation of the verification methodology to satisfy the requirement. The results of this activity will be the functional configuration audit and the verification evidence provided through the integration, test, and simulation programs
