Job Description:

The Opportunity

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Property Technician IV. If you are looking for an opportunity to promote continuous improvement, then this position is for you!

Property Technician IV

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily duties of Property Technician roles in the area of emphasis: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, grounds, building envelope, or interiors.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach employees in routine and technical duties, techniques, to achieve department goals.
  • Assist Supervisor to collect/record/analyze/prepare data in support of capital projects and budgeting in area of emphasis.
  • Collect/record/analyze campus use data to ensure optimization.
  • Own vendor/contractor relationships and audit work accomplished to SEL standards.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; perform routine maintenance as required.
  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety, environmental practices, area processes, and waste reduction opportunities to meet ISO standards.
  • Coordinate small projects, prepare project schedules and sketches. Ensuring accurate and timely execution.
  • Model SEL Values
  • Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience and increasing responsibilities in maintaining commercial facilities, plus at least 4 years SEL specific experience and at least last three performance reviews with satisfactory or better ratings
  • Journey level certificate or equivalent for area of emphasis: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanics or pneumatics
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and strictly enforce safety procedures
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications
  • Ability to work various shifts, hours and days depending upon current department workloads
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively and lead in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate small projects
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills needed for communications with our customers, vendors, contractors, and other Property Operations staff
  • Computer skills sufficient to satisfactorily use Microsoft Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, and Megamation.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Ability to meet MVR Qualification Standards of SEL Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • WSDA Private Commercial Applicator pesticide license as applicable.
  • Associates degree in a relevant technical field or Journey Level abilities in Maintenance related specialty.
