This position resides in the Utility Technologies Department of the Asset Management & Centralized Services Organization.

THIS IS A PROJECT POSITION:  This is a "Project" position designed to support project work for a limited duration. While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3-5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities within the first 3 years of assignment. From year 4 through the end of your assignment, Director level approval and waiver will not be required. If your assignment ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment.

The successful candidate will be a member of the primary project team responsible for the replacement of the existing Transmission Energy Management System (EMS). There may also be significant interaction with existing support operations for the current production EMS.  Post-project, the candidate will transition to real-time support of the EMS (the expected in service date of the new EMS is December 2019).


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with System Reliability team members and the GE vendor team to successfully execute the EMS Replacement project plan, on time and within budget.

  • Through formal training and hands-on experience, become proficient in all aspects of the GE PowerOn Reliance EMS product.

  • Consult at a high level by providing design, analysis, and maintenance of advanced applications, EMS infrastructure, and database management.

  • Participate in technical meetings and detailed gap analysis to ensure all requirements specified in the Statement of Work are met.  Follow up with internal and vendor subject matter experts to ensure closure of action items.

  • Provide training and knowledge transfer opportunities to other team members to ensure adequacy and depth of engineering support for reliable 24x7 operations.

  • Participate in site setup, user training, hardware/software installation, maintenance and support, and documentation of hardware/software logs and operating procedures.

  • Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and NERC CIP requirements (North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection).



  • Bachelor degree in Engineering with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience with complex systems and process control oriented environments.

  • Working knowledge of computing environments and tools such as the Linux operating environment, Linux shells, and standard utilities.

  • Demonstrated experience with Transmission/Distribution systems, substation automation, SCADA systems or similar industry exposure.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • On call 24/7 hours to assist during system emergency situations.
