This position provides the labor and expertise to lead design projects and dedicated design teams to meet customer requirements and schedules; interacts dynamically with Sales and Program Management to ensure proper coordination of issue resolution and delivery commitments. This position directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility. This Engineer also:

- Plans and implements engineering projects, including identifying activities, milestones, and staffing needs, per customer requirements.
- Assigns and oversees project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing.
- Develops and maintains schedules and budgets for the assigned engineering projects.
- Provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly.
- Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.
- Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
- Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
- Performs/directs integration of technical activities and products.
- Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
- Provides technical review and quotes hours and supplies estimated project schedules for Sales quotes and proposals.
- Interfaces with customers as required by Program Management to provide project status reports and ensure customer needs are met.
- Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management.
- Coordinates with Project Engineers to maintain current and develop new engineering standard work.
- Supports ACE/continuous improvement processes and initiatives in functional areas of responsibility.
- Demonstrates commitment to achieving ESH goals and objectives including compliance with all applicable policies, procedures and training requirements for a safe workplace.
- Ensures compliance with company’s policies, procedures, guidelines, standards, etc.
- Upholds company values, ethics, mission and vision.
- Other engineering duties may be assigned

Basic Qualifications
Knowledge/understanding of Engineering drafting standards and practices
High proficiency at SolidWorks (or equivalent) and modeling skills
Experience in engineering and design disciplines/environment, and in reviewing blueprints, specifications and other engineering data.
Familiarity with modeling and design software
Strong problem solving and decision makes skills
Ability to create and deliver technical presentations and reports to various levels of the organization/customers.
Possess advanced levels of verbal and written communications skills
Proficient with MS Office products/tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Be able to adapt to an ever changing environment and meet the challenges of today and plan for tomorrow.
Ability to work alone or in a team environment

Desired skills
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Conceptual design of new products and ideas to improve existing products
- Product definition and requirements development
- Creating and validating new designs (modeling/drafting/BOM creation)
- Creating and presenting concepts/products to internal and external customers
- Materials research and selection to support design requirements
- Qualification test plan/report creation and management
- Managing and maintaining schedules for design projects as assigned
- Manufacturing liaison support
- Revise engineering drawings as required

General responsibilities include:
- Product design using SolidWorks
- Create drawing packages
- Participate in the design, assembly and testing of prototypes
- Provide technical reviews for internal product designs
- Technical presentations to internal and external customers
- Support program design reviews, drawing reviews, and problem resolution
- Demonstrate ethical behavior; promote safety, diversity, and environmental goals

Basic Qualifications
Experience in mechanical design and turning those designs into engineering models and drawings using SolidWorks or CATIA V5
Experience in mechanical design using various materials like metals, composites and plastics
Experience in sheet metal and structural design
Familiarity with ANSI and ASME standards
Experience in problem resolution in a manufacturing environment. Provide liaison and shop floor support as required

Desired Skills
Aerospace industry experience preferred
Ability to manage engineering projects with little or no supervision
Proficiency in MS Office products
Excellent written and oral communication skills
