Description: GTRI's Information and Communications Laboratory (ICL) in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a Program Manager/System Engineer to join its mission of conducting applied research for analysis, design, development, test, and evaluation of prototype systems.  This position will provide Project Management and technical leadership in ICL’s expanding portfolio of Ground Electronic Warfare (EW) and Propagation and Spectrum programs.  Responsibilities include oversight and coordination of multiple related programs, development of project plans and technical directions, interactions and presentations to customers, new program development, and review of technical designs.  Activities are focused on the analysis and development of complete systems including hardware-in-the-loop emulation, system modeling and simulation, deployable prototype/first generation systems, lab test sets, and field test instrumentation.  

Candidates must have a background in development and delivery of working prototypes and final products. Candidates must also enjoy working across a wide range of programs, developing in a team environment, and designing and developing cutting edge systems. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant field.

The position is based in Atlanta, GA, and will include approximately 20% travel.  The selection process will include passing a pre-employment background screening.

REQUIREMENTS THAT MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:

Senior Research Scientist

  • A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or an appropriate field and seven  (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or an appropriate field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or an appropriate fieldand four (4) years' relevant full-time experience

Principal Research Engineer/Scientist   

  • A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or an appropriate field and eleven (11) years' relevant full-time experience; or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or an appropriate field and seven (7) years' relevant full-time experience.
  • Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen with at least a DOD SECRET security clearance
  • At least 15 years of combined experience in Ground EW, Communications, and relevant systems development
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise multiple simultaneous efforts
  • Strong understanding of Ground EW, the current issues in the area, and future directions
  • Demonstrated experience in test set development related to EW systems
  • Experience in airborne electronic system requirements
  • Experience in communication technologies
  • Strong, organization, and communication abilities
  • Ability to work well individually or in a group setting
  • Ability to effectively present technical information

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Technical background in hardware and software development
  • Experience in hardware and software configuration management and development of processes
  • Training in Project Management
