Oregon Tech invites applications for a Professor of Practice position in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy. This is a 9-month, part-time, non-tenure track position located on the Portland-Metro campus anticipated to begin in September 2018. We are seeking a motivated colleague with the enthusiasm and ability to help us drive our degree programs forward. Applicants must have a strong commitment to high-quality undergraduate instruction. Primary academic responsibilities include development and instruction of Electrical Engineering courses with a strong emphasis on digital system design (microprocessors, microcontrollers, programmable logic, and IoT applications).
Subject to the time constrains of the part-time appointment (0.25 FTE; 10 hours per week), other responsibilities may include advising graduate students, directing student projects, as well as participation in continuous professional development and departmental service activities. Candidates will be expected to teach both lecture and laboratory courses.


The Department of Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy offers undergraduate programs in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, and Electronics Engineering Technology, all of which are ABET accredited. The department also offers MS degrees in Renewable Energy Engineering and in Engineering, as well as three dual majors in Optical Engineering, Automation, Robotics, & Control Engineering, and Systems Engineering & Technical Management.

EERE faculty are a multidisciplinary team with backgrounds in electrical engineering, physical chemistry, materials science, and mechanical engineering. EERE is located on both the Klamath Falls and Portland-Metro campuses. Undergraduate programs are available on both campuses; other offerings vary by location. Majors in EERE are closely aligned with Oregon Tech’s mission of providing innovative and rigorous degree programs in technically-related fields with emphasis of the application of theory to practice.

• PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, OR
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with at least three years of relevant industry experience.
