Professor/Chair, Electrical and Computer Engineering

The College of Engineering at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University invites applications and nominations for this key leadership position. North Carolina A&T State University is a public land grant university that enrolls over 11,000 students.

The College, with over 1,700 students, has EAC ABET accredited undergraduate programs in Architectural, Bio, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a CAC ABET-accredited program in Computer Science; plus 8 Masters of Science Degree programs, and 5 Doctoral programs. The Chair of the Electrical and Computing Engineering department is the academic leader and chief administrative officer of the department. (S)he is charged with leading, recruiting, and mentoring the faculty and staff to advance the department’s research, teaching, and service mission. The charge includes developing the strategic vision for the Department, and working with constituents to execute the Department’s strategic plan and achieve its goals. The Chair also oversees the department’s programs and their assessment; promotes the Department through alumni and donor engagement and partnerships with industry; and ensures the competitiveness of its graduates.

The department chair is expected to continue his/her research and scholarly activities in an area that strengthens the ECE department and is aligned with one or more of the College’s 5 cross-department research strengths of Cybersecurity and Network Operations; Energy and Sustainability; Healthcare Applications; Aerospace & Transportation Systems; or Multiscale Materials Development & Analysis. (S)he also will provide leadership and guidance in undergraduate and graduate research; and help increase research funding by building strategic collaborations.
