Job Details

The PDT&T Project Engineer supports the PDT&T Team Lead in performance of the following tasks:
♦ Planning, coordination, and conduct of all post-delivery test events for Total Ship (Combat, Communication & Navigation Systems, and Hull, Mechanical, & Electrical (HM&E) Systems), including:
- Major test periods (Sail Around, Final Contract Trials, Shock Trials, etc.)
- Major test events (CSSQT, CSSOT, Mission Package, Alignments, etc.)
- Ship Availabilities (IPDA/PDA, PSA, PMAV, CMAV)
- Post-Availability Test (CSLO, LOA, Post Repair Trials)
- DT/OT, IOT&E Tests
♦ Coordination with all support and customer groups, including Program Management, Engineering IPTs, Sustainment, Navy PEs, Navy support groups, and ship’s crews, for all test planning, conduct, reporting, and problem resolution ♦ Development, update, and management of test and personnel schedules and dependencies for in-port and at-sea test periods
♦ Planning and coordination of all vendors, including schedule, resources, dependencies, conduct, reporting, and issue documentation and resolution
♦ Development and distribution of plans and daily status during test periods, coordinating with LM & Navy counterparts and support teams
♦ Coordination of ship issues and repairs with appropriate LM (Sustainment, Engineering ITPs, etc.) and Navy (shore support and crew) groups
♦ Coordination of actual test conduct during In-port and At-sea test events as required
♦ Perform as T&E Ship Lead for oversight and coordination of all T&E aspects of ship program and schedule
♦ Requires travel to support both changing ship locations (Marinette, Norfolk, and other ports), and PDT&T in-port and underway events (varying durations)

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Marine Engineering or equivalent ship development or naval education and experience

Minimum of 8 years in relevant ship development/design, ship construction/repair, and/or marine service with progressively responsible experience.

Extensive knowledge of systems implementation and integration, including planning, scheduling, and resolving dependencies

Extensive experience planning, coordinating, and executing complex projects, including all technical, schedule, and budget aspects

Communication skills required for effective interface with management, vendors, ship crew, and the Navy customer on complex program and technical aspects and issues. Ability to build effective relationships with Ship’s Crew and Navy customers

Analytical skills to effectively track, manage, and status multiple technical and construction items and issues

Ability to travel and provide dedicated on-ship support (in-port or at-sea) for defined test periods

Desired skills
Knowledge of ship testing, including component and system bring-up, operation, troubleshooting, test procedure execution, test reporting, and problem documentation and resolution, particularly as related to ship combat, communication, navigation, and HM&E systems

Knowledge of ship combat, communication, navigation, and HM&E systems, including operation, test, and maintenance.

Knowledge of ship production and test environments, particularly as related to new system installation, bring-up, operation, test, and certification

Ability to research, read and interpret ship drawings, including cabling diagrams, for ship test and change processing

Ability to perform analysis and studies in depth, make professional presentations, and keep up with technical advancements in above areas

Knowledge of LCS Program, including LCS ship production and test approach and schedule, and knowledge of Navy ship and crew environments, including structure, tasking, communications, and relatons

Ability to execute daily staff work (planning, coordination, communication, documentation, issue resolution) in a timely, professional, independent, and effective manner, for In-port and At-sea test periods in a demanding and dynamic customer environment
