Job Details

Job Summary & Essential Functions:
  • Execute and complete complex engineering projects, and/or novel assignments that require the use and development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures
  • Coordinate and be responsible for the execution of a large project (broad in scope), or a number of smaller projects with complex features
  • Assist in defining product technology
  • Provide direction to other engineers and department support
  • Develop conceptual/preliminary designs for new projects and products
  • Participate in initial technical discussions with current and prospective customers as well as subsequent design review meetings
  • Provide support to manufacturing functions to ensure correct procedures and instructions utilized in building product
  • Develop test requirements and/or test procedures with technicians
  • Participate in design review meetings with customers and engineers/designers/director of engineering
  • Proactively execute resolution to administrative and engineering problems
  • Provide technical supervision to all departments within company location
  • Provide education and training to junior members of technical staff either directly or indirectly
  • Lead multi-disciplinary failure analysis
  • Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members
  • Perform other assignments as required

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Needs to have comprehensive Engineering properties including:
  • Expert knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes together with work measurement and work standards
  • Proficient in technical writing; good documentation skills; attention to detail is critical; clear understanding of creation of full contractual documentation packages
  • Required: able to create, read, and interpret engineering drawings
  • Prior experience with ISO requirements
  • Demonstrated analytical expertise including ability to plan, effectively resolve problems, and establish priorities
  • Demonstrated understanding of DOE, 6-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing
  • Intermediate level of computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Project, VBA;
  • Advanced level preferred Good working knowledge of 3-D design tools, Solid Works preferred
  • Good fundamental knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and it applications
  • High proficiency in Schematic Capture and electrical design
  • Embedded Systems design
  • Analog and Data Acquisition design
  • Thorough knowledge of prototyping methods Intermediate knowledge of machine vision systems for both diffuse and specular objects
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and project company image to attract business
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills together with demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Flexible with high energy, able to handle multiple tasks smoothly
  • Abilities listed in General Requirements of Team Members
 
Highly Advantageous Skills & Qualifications:
  • Established as an originator of Intellectual Property with multiple patents
  • Intermediate proficiency in PCB Layout· Both assembly code and high-level programming skills
  • PLC Programming
  • VHDL Programming
  • Hard Optical systems design
  • In-Depth knowledge of Environmental testing including setup and operation of vibration shaker systems; fixture design required
Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: 
  • 4 year technical degree from accredited school required, advanced degree preferred
  • 10-15 years in design and manufacturing environment designing both components and systems that include embedded software
