Position Summary

Safearth are seeking a suitably qualified senior power system engineering professional to join our team of expert consulting engineers who lead the world in the field of power system grounding. We are looking for the right candidate to develop our specialist engineering business in the USA.

The position is available to start immediately, however the intent is to hire the right candidate for this key role. Whilst our USA headquarters are presently in Florida, the location of the role is negotiable with the selected candidate. The essential and desirable attributes are listed herein.

The role will necessitate travel to customer’s premises and sites to form relationships and perform grounding testing and deliver training courses. Whilst in the base office, the role will encompass email and phone conversations, as well as the preparation of proposals, reports and other documents pertaining to the running of the business. Together, the team provides specialist consulting services in the following areas:

  • Grounding system design
  • Grounding system performance assessment
  • Lightning protection system design and assessment
  • Electrical shock safety auditing and incident investigation
  • Complex electrical problem solving across instrumentation, power, pipe and communications systems

Essential Experience

  • Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent giving entitlement to registration as a Professional Engineer
  • American Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Current Driver’s License.

Desirable Experience

  • Have over 10 years’ experience in, and a sound understanding of, power system and electromagnetic theory
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Previous power system design experience
  • Understanding of hazard and risk assessment process and risk based design principles
  • Possess highly developed oral and written communication skills including report writing
  • Work well independently, as well as in small or large teams
  • Be motivated to travel within USA semi-regularly for short durations, and on occasion to Australia for up to 2 weeks.
