MITREs Center for Financial Enterprise Transformation is looking for technical professionals to work with the Social Security Administration (SSA) to modernize and enable its internal processing and customer services. Modernizing IT systems and ecosystems is a key element of our portfolio. We will provide you with challenging opportunities to apply and expand your technical, engineering, innovation and transformation, and analytic skills. You will use your abilities to address complex issues of critical national significance. We are looking for highly-motivated, adaptive, and self-directed candidates with a broad spectrum of experience in modernizing large-scale data and processing-intensive systems, migration planning, and transformation. We value data-driven and thorough analysis, impactful communication, and a bias for action.


You will provide thought leadership and problem solving for SSA government customers in collaboration with stakeholders from private, federal, state and local sectors. Specific responsibilities will include:

Review security policies and procedures and determine alignment with Security standards. Make recommendations to improve alignment.
Lead the development of Cyber security and eAuthentication strategies and assist in implementation
Assess risk management processes per NIST SP 800-37
Perform audits against NIST 800-53 control baselines as indicated by the FIPS 199 system categorization level.
Lead the development of Security Assessment Reports (SARs) documenting the status of NIST 800-53 Rev A controls.
Research and develop of a framework to implement a FISMA compliant IT security program.
Identify and recommend security controls for systems development and configuration management
Write technical reports, briefs and verbally communicate results.

*Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to successfully complete an Federal Minimum Background Investigation. Those that hold an active U.S. Government Security Clearance are encouraged to apply.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Information Systems Management or related disciplines.

10+ years experience operating in many of the following SSA business domains:

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Experience executing C&A Processes within the U.S. federal government,
Experience evaluating Security Controls
Experience Writing technical reports, briefs and verbally communicate results.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security
Applicable technical cerifications
Candidates holding current / active US Government security clearance(s) are highly preferred
