Job Description

Key Activities include:

As a supporting member of 460 Mission Support Group, Civil Engineering, you lead a team of power plant and HVAC engineers in operations and maintenance (O&M) of primary and back-up Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) Space Operations Centers (SOC) to meet a 99.9% availability rate of mission critical Power and HVAC for SBIRS and Legacy Defense Support Program (DSP) missions. Special emphasis on integrating SBIRS Block 10 and Block 20 power and HVAC requirements into DSP legacy infrastructure. MINIMUM Secret clearance mandatory, TS/SCI is preferred.

Key activities include:

+ Perform O&M engineering involving maintenance, repair, upgrade, and operation of electrical circuits, equipment, and systems to infrastructure facilities, including utility systems for SBIRS & DSP operations utilizing a professional knowledge of electrical engineering

+ Determines short and long range requirements for replacement of existing complex and major electrical systems; builds project management plans for the installation; and leads installation and checkout, to include regression testing

+ Serves as a consultant on all electrical engineering aspects of SBIRS O&M projects and provides electrical engineering support

+ Participate in the development and/or implementation of policy documentation related to SBIRS infrastructure support systems

+ Deliver technical analysis and recommendations for integrating emerging electrical and HVAC technologies into evolving SBIRS infrastructure

+ Provide expertise on matters related to SBIRS mission Infrastructure support to relevant entities utilizing SBIRS data; assist gov’t in ensuring compliance with ops requirements

+ Provide requirements analysis for changes in infrastructure architecture; review/support the development of training/evaluations products for infrastructure quality control

Required Experience

+ A current and active Master Electrician Colorado State license and Professional Engineer certification

+ Knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to a broad range of atypical or highly difficult facilities engineering assignments

+ Extensive knowledge with other engineering disciplines as well as other related areas/functions

+ Knowledge of electrical engineering research and developmental activities and technologies and advances in order to incorporate them into atypical or highly difficult assignments

+ Broad knowledge of state and local jurisdiction over the use of land and natural resources, the construction of facilities and utilities, and the distribution of utilities services

+ Comprehensive knowledge of the SBIRS mission and related organizations

+ Ability to adapt precedents or make significant departures from previous approaches to similar projects in order to provide for specialized requirements of some projects

+ Ability to plan and monitor large and complex facilities engineering projects requiring searching out and development of new or greatly modified methods and approaches so as to assure applicable objectives, standards, and requirements are met

+ Electrical engineering research and developmental activities, technologies and advances in order to incorporate them into SBIRS

+ Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills; proficient with MS Office

+ MINIMUM Secret clearance MANDATORY, TS/SCI is preferred

Preferred Experience:

+ Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) programs proficiency

+ Experience with federal, state, and local codes concerning health, safety, and the environment

+ Demonstrated knowledge of Department of Defense policies and procedures to include contracting and funding
