Job Details

• Duties may include Design, Configuration, Executing equipment installation; defining/updating documentation and enforcing system standards for Networking Solutions at Layers 1, 2, & 3
• Network engineer must have the ability to review network systems both at production and factory environments to find flaws or room for improvement
• Creates, updates and revises technical networking documentation for LAN/WAN
• Reviews and makes recommendations to purchase Network hardware and software, coordinates and/or executes equipment installation and implements network security for services and User accounts, maintaining Network documentation, tuning system performance

Basic Qualifications
• Current Security+ CE Certification
• Working knowledge of LAN Switching technologies, i.e. media access control methods for Ethernet networks, Collision domains, Broadcast domains, VLAN trunking and Spanning Tree Protocols
• Working knowledge of Operation of IP Networks including Routing Protocols, i.e. OSPF, RIP v2, IPv4/IPv6 addressing, Subnetting, Route Summarization, Access Control Lists
• Hands-on experience implementing configuration using CLI on Cisco switches & routers
• Proven expertize troubleshooting and correcting common LAN problems associated with IP addressing and host configurations
• Experience troubleshooting and correcting LAN problems with VLAN, Trunking, Spanning Tree on Cisco switches
• Capable of supporting travel assignments 25-50% of the time
• Capable of authoring/updating/revising technical documentation related to Networking procedures / tasks using MS Office products (Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio, Access)
• Proficient written and communication skills. Quick thinker, problem solver, creative, critical thinking skills

Desired skills
• Familiarity with AF Distributed Common Ground Systems (AF DCGS)
• Current Cisco Certified Network/Design Associate (CCNA/CCDA) is a plus
• Basic knowledge setting up Storage Area Networks
• Basic knowledge of configuring BROCADE Fibre Channel Switches
• Basic working knowledge of UNIX/LINUX Operating Systems
• Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
• Basic knowledge of Server virtualization (Windows/Solaris/Linux)
