As a National Accounts Manager for Utility Distributor Sales you will build relationships and develop plans to increase sales and profitability for National Utility Distribution firm accounts that are National in scope and influence their purchasing decisions for Utility Distribution. The position will be responsible to sell Powerline Hardware products. The position can be based out of any major metropolitan city with a regional airport (preference may be given to Jacksonville, FL). The company offers a competitive base salary plus incentive plan, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.

Job Summary

Build and maintain relationships with National Utility Distribution firms and develop plans to increase sales and profitability for targeted National Utility Distribution firms and make purchasing decisions. Drive sales in this sector by creating, executing and communicating business plans to grow sales for Powerline Hardware.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Develops and maintains business relationships with National Utility Distribution firms. Strategically plans customer visits to cultivate relationships, perform presentations, offer innovative programs and communicate plans.
  • Researches, develops and acquires large account opportunities. Effectively communicates competitive strengths and develops strategy to acquire competitive business.
  • Develops and executes profitable business plans for managing existing and newly acquired accounts and implements those plans effectively.
  • Negotiates national agreements and rebate programs consistent with management goals.
  • Teams with individuals within sales, and other key personnel to communicate account plans, pricing, and offer assistance to drive sales.
  • Works with the standard engineer & product approval at the IOU’s.
  • Review the current Agents network with their performance metrics & fill up the open territories.
  • Acts as technical advisor for field product quality issues, developing both internal and external corrective action plans, product enhancement feature and following though to full implementation assuring customer is fully satisfied.

  • Develops or engages/directs others in developing innovative solutions to important, highly complex strategic and operating problems; cross department considerations are often present.

Work Environment

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel more than 40% of the time.




Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must pass a Background Check

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA in related discipline.
  • Generally 8+ years of experience in related field. Engineering background preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing National Accounts in a Supply Chain environment.
  • Sales experience with National Utility Distributors.
  • Direct sales to Utilities.
  • Knowledge in Power distribution and transmission products.
  • Knowledge of Miller Heiman’s Strategic Selling and Large Account Management Process concepts.
  • Ability to utilize the PC and business software products for reporting. Ability to interpret and analyze sales reports.
  • Ability to develop and implement customer-specific marketing plans.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for customer service excellence.
